Spray in a diesel engine
Problem description
Injection of diesel in an engine cylinder.
Modelling
The geometry used is a sector mesh of the total geometry. The case was decomposed and run in parallel.
Animations
The animation shows the motion of top section of the piston head during the period of fuel injection. The solution from the sector geometry has been reconstructed to show all 12 injector nozzles. The spray is coloured by temperature.
Author
This work was performed by Dr. Niklas Nordin, Chalmers University. Animation of the spray simulation reproduced with kind permission of Niklas Nordin.
