A simple 2D example of flow around an obstacle
with prescribed translation and/or rotation.
Physics and modelling
The problem is incompressible flow around an
obstacle whose motion is controlled by a user-created boundary type.
The motion can take any prescribed function; the examples are of a
cyclic translation and a cyclic rotation who amplitude and freqency are
controlled by run time parameters.
OpenFOAM application
icoFoamAutoMotion with some user modifications
Animation
Animations of velocity magnitude show the shedding of vortices
from the surfaces of the moving obstacle.
